I honestly haven't even read this yet but I just want to say that your handwriting pleases me.

ReplyDeleteI vote for the Palm Tree Nursery! One of the best pieces I've ever read on humor writing was an essay by E.B. White (of Charolotte Webb's fame, among other things). In it, he writes that "humor is like a frog. If you dissect it, it dies in the process." He was cheekily critiquing exactly what he was trying to do in the essay--analyze what makes writing funny. And yet, it does seem worth of analysis, because it's so elusive. And it so fun to read when it works. As you consider the re-genre project, it might be interesting to take a humor piece you've crafted and revise it into a radio essay. David Sedaris can show you the way.
